Crafts of Jordan

I thought you might like to see some color other than tan. Where there is water many things can grow in Jordan including beautiful flowers, these are near our lodging. I am not sure of the name of the plant if you know let please share your knowledge.

Here is another example of some of the flowers.

I read about this place on the flight over to Jordan in a Jordan Times article. Queen Rania visited about a week ago to help in an effort to promote handicrafts of Jordan. She visited this shop which is located in a former Ottoman prison.

Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan.

The shop is filled with local crafts and textiles. All of them are of high quality and made by local artists.

Here are some other examples of textiles. They also have Dead Sea bath salts, lotions and other products.

These mosaics are sold with or without frames and some are copies of famous scenes from ancient mosaics of Jordan.

Another example of the textiles available.

They also have stones inlaid with silver.

Here is an example of needle work available.

Here are some pillow cases and bed coverings.

The shop has a nice courtyard area with a fountain and a place to purchase snacks.

The shop also has a friendly and helpful staff. So if you see things you like you should let us know, maybe you could have some of these things for your own.
